Equity In Enrollment

CDC is conscious of the racial disparities and inequitable practices across all layers of our society and our unique positions of impact and reach as early childhood educators. We have a responsibility to examine inequities and disparities in our own practices and to take action to ensure that all children and families, including those from historically marginalized groups, have equitable access and a sense of inclusion and belonging in our programs.

In light of these priorities and the limited space available, priority enrollment is given to families that have been historically excluded  from access to childcare (e.g. low-income families, single caretaker families, families of color). Registrations are not accepted on a first-come first-served basis. In the case it is needed, a lottery will be conducted for remaining spaces available.

History

Community Day Care (CDC) is committed to offering stimulating, child centered, play based programs and one of the only a few non-profit child care organizations in our area. It was founded in 1972, by a group of parents with young children. In 1984, that same group of parents opened an after school program in the elementary schools. CDC  piloted the first program of its kind here in Ann Arbor.

We currently serve nearly 400 families  in the greater Ann Arbor community each year and are determined that our programs should reflect the broad diversity of our community. Quality care should be available to all families regardless of their financial means.

CDC was started in the spirit of giving to, and sharing with, the broader community. We work hard to keep that spirit alive everyday.

Board of Directors

CDC is a 501(c)3 non-profit. We are governed by a board of directors made up of current families, alumni parents and community members and we seek to make sure our board reflects the broad diversity of the community we serve.

In addition to meeting monthly, the board also commits to being a member of a committee. The four main committees are governance, scholarship, finance, and development.
